Race Director’s Message:

Welcome to the Law Day 5K Run/Walk. In 2008, we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Law Day 5K. Runners keep coming back to our race year after year. I’ve been running for over 40 years including running competitively in college and have seen a lot of races and race courses. The Law Day 5K Race stands out for being well organized and appealing to competitive runners as well as casual runners and families. There is something for everyone.

The race course is flat, fast and scenic. The course begins at the Ventura County Government Center, takes a big loop in front of the main fountain (which gives the race fans a nice view of all the runners), heads out around the inner pathways of the Government Center grounds, then along some city sidewalks, under a canopy of trees, onto a great bike path and finally on another inner pathway to the home stretch.

Take a look at the photos of the course on our website. My daughter Olivia and I photographed each course straightaway and turn so you can see the entire course. Check out the photos and take a quick ride around the entire course from start to finish.

Parents can run or walk the 5K race and then join their kids (or just watch them) in the 1 mile fun run. The 1 mile fun run is several loops in front of the big fountain so parents can watch the entire fun run from start to finish. Every child gets a medal for finishing.

Our race also stands out for its great food and free raffle prizes. We raffle prizes before, during and at the end of the awards ceremony so it’s worth staying and enjoying the entire event.

We have a lot of dedicated committee members and volunteers and great sponsors who make the race possible. You can see all of them on our website. Our sponsors are also shown on our flyers and race shirts. Please support them when you get the opportunity.

The proceeds from our race benefit the Volunteer Lawyers Service Program (VLSP) of the Ventura County Bar Association. The VLSP provides legal services to those in need. We have raised a lot of money for that good cause and plan on doing so in the future.

Tell your friends, bring your family and sign up now. See you at the starting line.
